Top therapists in Georgia accepting new patients
I have been working as a professional counselor for seven years after earning my Master’s in Counseling from Liberty University and my Specialist in Professional Counseling from the University of West Georgia.
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor, Registered Art Therapist, Yoga Certified Teacher & an Enneagram Applications Professional. I aim to foster truth & a renewal of a healthy authentic self by utilizing your personality, mindset and an explorative personable approach to understand, challenge and empower you.
I show up to this work with both clinical training and lived experience. I understand what it’s like to navigate the emotional and physical weight of life while still trying to function and care for others.
I won’t rush your process or expect you to have everything figured out. I value creating a space where you can be honest, move at your own pace, and feel supported without judgment.
My Caribbean roots and personal healing journey shape how I see and honor each person’s story. I believe healing happens through safety, connection, and self-compassion and I’m here to walk alongside you in that.
I provide a connected, supportive space where you can explore what’s weighing on you and feel genuinely understood. Using an eclectic approach, I tailor therapy to your unique needs, helping you gain clarity and move toward meaningful, lasting change. Many people come to therapy because something in their life no longer feels sustainable—whether it’s anxiety, relationship strain, loss, overwhelm, or simply a sense of being stuck. My goal is to provide a space where you feel genuinely seen, heard, and understood without judgment. I believe meaningful change begins with a strong therapeutic connection in a safe environment.
Welcome! My name is Melanie and I am the own of A Mindfulness Practice LLC. I earned my MS in Counseling with a concentration in mental health at NOVA Southeastern University in 2019. I have experience working with adults who struggle with depression, anxiety, PTSD, and substance abuse. My work with adolescents includes depression, anxiety, trauma/PTSD, and sexual identity.
I want therapy to feel like a space where you’re truly heard, understood, and not judged. Together, we’ll create a supportive, honest relationship where you can show up as your real self and work toward the changes that matter most to you. I work with adults navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, life transitions, relationship issues, grief, stress, personality disorders, substance use, and co‐occurring concerns, and I draw on my crisis work background to support you through really tough moments. I also love helping you understand how your brain, emotions, and behaviors work so you can make changes that last beyond our sessions.
