I have more than twenty years of experience providing psychotherapy to children, adolescents and adults. I utilize a supportive approach to create a comfortable environment in which you can discuss your issues and achieve your goals. I specialize in treating psychological trauma, including sexual trauma, and I also treat depression, low self-esteem, anxiety, including panic attacks and panic disorder, grief/bereavement, relationship issues, parenting issues, behavioral issues, stress management and improving your coping mechanisms.
Thank you for your willingness to show up for yourself by reaching out for help. This part of your journey may be a bit uneasy, but you are already on your way to better. I am looking forward to meeting with you so we can discuss things further. I attended Howard University where I obtained by master's degree in social work. I have been in this field for more then thirteen years. I have worked with men, women, children, and adolescents with a variety of diagnoses, and psychiatric backgrounds.
I strive to bring a warm, compassionate, and non-judgmental approach to therapy. I have been a social worker for 10 years and a mother for over 25 years. Moms go through a lot. Are you a woman seeking to become pregnant? Have you recently experienced a miscarriage or a loss? Are you a mother of young children? I have a strong connection with women in all stages of motherhood, whether you are aspiring to be a mother, find motherhood overwhelming and all-consuming, or have recently suffered a loss. No other loss is quite like the pain of miscarriage and infant loss. In therapy, you will be heard and seen. I'll give you the space to let it all out, and to process what you are going through.
I'm a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) licensed in Illinois and New York. I received my Masters in Social Work from New York University and have been practicing for over 10 years. My experience includes helping children and young adults struggling with their emotions and relationships to find their strengths, accomplish their goals, manage their emotions, and helping them build a support system.
Welcome and thank you for taking that first step in supportive self-care. I am Shaqueen Walcott a Licensed Clinical Social Worker as well as an Advanced CASAC. Effective treatment demands deep engagement combined with an appropriate level of intervention. Working together, we will begin to rebuild, resilience, trust, and most importantly hope.
