I work with adults navigating anxiety, career and life transitions, grief, and questions of identity and purpose — whether that's a 20-something rethinking their path, someone reassessing a career after years in it, or an older adult navigating retirement, caregiving, or the shifts that come with later life. My approach is collaborative and grounded: you'll leave sessions with more clarity than you came in with, not just more to think about.
I came to this work after a first career in banking. I understand the pressure, identity, and burnout that come with corporate life firsthand — and what it takes to actually rebuild around what matters to you, whatever stage of life or career you're in. I hold a Master's in Mental Health Counseling from Yeshiva University.
I earned my PhD in Clinical Psychology in 2002. Having worked in healthcare and academic settings, I appreciate being part of a treatment team and am available to coordinate care with other providers when beneficial. Rather than see 'how many problems' a person may be facing... I see 'how many ways things can get better'. I value working with folks to see their puzzle from a different angle and to use tools to clarify, change and improve the picture.
I am a clinical social worker with background in substance abuse treatment and mental health. I really enjoy working with clients and working towards their "aha moments". Therapy is a safe space to grow and "let down your hair" so to speak. I never want our time together to be a power struggle/dynamic but rather a place where you can speak your mind and not feel judged.
Barbara Borgella is a board-certified psychiatric-mental health nurse practitioner who earned her Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) with a Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) specialization from Molloy University. She focuses on promoting long-term patient recovery through the integration of evidence-based clinical practice. Patients can expect Barbara to be a knowledgeable, well-rounded, and culturally competent provider. Her experience includes treating patients with attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), anxiety, depression, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), insomnia, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), and mood disorders.
I am a Native New Yorker With immigrant parents that wanted to leave people better than I found them. I like being able to provide education, support, validation to others without the stigma of mental health and empowering them to live the best quality of life
