I strive to bring a warm, compassionate, and non-judgmental approach to therapy. I have been a social worker for 10 years and a mother for over 25 years. Moms go through a lot. Are you a woman seeking to become pregnant? Have you recently experienced a miscarriage or a loss? Are you a mother of young children? I have a strong connection with women in all stages of motherhood, whether you are aspiring to be a mother, find motherhood overwhelming and all-consuming, or have recently suffered a loss. No other loss is quite like the pain of miscarriage and infant loss. In therapy, you will be heard and seen. I'll give you the space to let it all out, and to process what you are going through.
I'm a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) licensed in Illinois and New York. I received my Masters in Social Work from New York University and have been practicing for over 10 years. My experience includes helping children and young adults struggling with their emotions and relationships to find their strengths, accomplish their goals, manage their emotions, and helping them build a support system.
Welcome and thank you for taking that first step in supportive self-care. I am Shaqueen Walcott a Licensed Clinical Social Worker as well as an Advanced CASAC. Effective treatment demands deep engagement combined with an appropriate level of intervention. Working together, we will begin to rebuild, resilience, trust, and most importantly hope.
Vanessa L. Chonou, LMHC, CASAC-T is a Mental Health Counselor with over six years of experience working in Human Services. She earned her BA in Psychology from the State University of New York and completed her MS in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at the College of Saint Rose in 2024.

I hold a Bachelor of Science and a Master of Social Work from Western Michigan University, equipping me with a strong foundation in clinical practice and social work principles.
My professional background as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker encompasses a diverse range of evidence-based therapeutic approaches, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), Motivational Interviewing, Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT), Solution-Focused Therapy, Behavioral Therapy, Biblical Christian Counseling, Problem-Solving Therapy (PST), Relational Therapy, Solution-Focused Couples Therapy, Strength-Based Therapy, Cognitive Trauma-Focused Therapy, and Family-Focused Therapy.
I am dedicated to providing tailored, compassionate care to male and female adults, as well as the geriatric population, addressing a wide spectrum of mental health, emotional, and relational needs to foster empowerment and well-being.
Starting therapy often means saying things out loud for the first time. You don't have to have the words ready — that's part of the work.
I work with adults facing anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, and major life transitions, including the particular strain of rebuilding a life in a new country, holding a family across borders, or carrying a loss that happened somewhere else.
Much of my career has been spent with people on the worst day of their lives. I responded to the 1999 Vargas disaster in Venezuela, and worked with Project Liberty in New York after 9/11, training paramedics, firefighters, and highway police along the way. You do not have to protect me from what happened to you.
I trained first as a psychologist in Venezuela and completed my master's in mental health counseling in New York. I'm a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in New York and Connecticut, a National Certified Counselor, and EMDR-certified.
Sessions are available in English and Spanish. Not translated — I work in both.
If you're deciding whether to reach out, you don't need to be certain. You only need to be curious enough to start.
